I was Hannah’s manager for two years and saw her deliver high-quality work across complex Azure services and open-source work. Susan Potter Content manager · Azure Developer Content · Microsoft

I was Hannah’s manager for two years when she worked on multiple Azure services. These services included Durable Functions, Durable Task, Dapr, and portions of Azure Monitor, each with its own partner teams, audiences, content maturity, and strategic requirements. Hannah is brilliant to work with; she diligently, independently, and consistently delivers high-quality work across this complex environment. Hannah played an important role in our work with Dapr, an open source service made available in both Azure Kubernetes Service and Container Apps. She represented Microsoft in the joint open source effort and built trusted relationships with the Dapr community and maintainers, including through their Discord channels. Her work was recognized at a leadership level as a meaningful contributor to the project’s award-winning community presence. Hannah also took ownership of a significant content set that was unstructured and unmaintained, yet had a new and much higher level of priority. She advocated to take on this work, rearchitected it, and updated it to meet organizational standards. She delivered a full refresh in partnership with the product team on a very fast timeline. Her content across services was consistently kept at our 100 percent target freshness level, which was an exceptional achievement. Hannah builds strong relationships with her immediate team as well as engineering, PM, partner teams, and open source maintainers. She works independently, reports in appropriately, and manages multiple services and competing timelines with clarity and good judgment. She is highly receptive to feedback, quick to adapt and grow new skills, and adopts new tools to accelerate her work. I recommend Hannah without reservation and would gladly hire her again.

I had the opportunity to get to know her through our professional association, and I consistently valued her thoughtfulness and respectful approach. Nick Greenfield Colleague

I am happy to provide a personal reference for Hannah. I had the opportunity to get to know her through our professional association, and I consistently valued her thoughtfulness and respectful approach.

One quality that particularly stood out to me was Hannah’s ability to maintain a positive and constructive attitude, even when navigating challenging situations. Throughout our interactions, I found her to be thoughtful, sincere, and genuinely engaged in conversation. She was always looking for where she could contribute next and how she could make a meaningful impact. Hannah approached discussions with curiosity, listened carefully, and brought a sense of perspective and good judgement to every interaction we had. Those qualities left a lasting impression on me and are the primary reason I am pleased to provide this reference.

Based on my personal experience knowing Hannah, I am more than pleased to recommend her.

I saw Hannah strengthen Dapr’s documentation, support the community, and bring steady ownership to a fast-moving open-source project. Mark Fussell Cofounder · Dapr

I have worked closely with Hannah as a documentation maintainer on Dapr (Distributed Application Runtime), a leading Cloud Native Computing Foundation project progressing toward Graduation, the foundation’s highest maturity status. The foundation’s Technical Oversight Committee rated the Dapr documentation “Outstanding,” its highest evaluation score, and I credit Hannah’s work as a major contributor.

I have seen Dapr support Microsoft products such as Azure Container Apps and Azure Kubernetes Service, as well as developer tools such as .NET Aspire. Developers often rely on documentation first when adopting open-source technology, and Hannah’s work has helped provide a clear path for building cloud-native applications on Azure.

    Hannah's contributions have included:

    1. She raised multiple pull requests, wrote technical content, and tracked features across Dapr milestones.
    2. She handled key release procedures to prepare the documentation for publication.
    3. She wrote extensive technical documentation, improved consistency, and upheld a high standard when reviewing contributor submissions.
    4. She triaged hundreds of issues and responded to community feedback.

I describe Hannah as easy to work with, open to new ideas, and proactive about improving documentation. I have seen her become more deliberate and confident over the past year.

I consider Hannah a valuable and thoughtful technical documentation writer and maintainer.

Hannah is the best doc writer I've ever had the pleasure of working with because her passion for a good user experience is infectious and inspiring. In the last month, Hannah has joined me on the very difficult challenge of transitioning and rebranding of my feature, Azure Change Analysis, from DevDiv to a team within core Azure rebuilding said feature. When we were surprised by news of a public preview for the replacement Change Analysis experience, Hannah immediately identified the gap on the new team's documentation plan (i.e., no docs nor resourcing to write docs), and she started reworking the replacement team's existing documentation to include the new UI and differences between my existing and the new public preview. This is no small feat.

She's been limited by clarity of the new experience, not given the ability to get screenshots, and restricted from using vital, clarifying terms only a handful of engineers within Microsoft know. However, over March 2024, Hannah iterated on high quality documentation, caught engineering issues that will make the replacement product better, and improved related documentation to deliver a comprehensive docs experience for users. Her output will (1) save customers from a jarring transition to a well-communicated and informative feature evolution, (2) improve the engineering plans for the replacement product as we now see experience gaps, and (3) create a strong foundation of public docs for the replacement team to maintain and build upon.

She's helped fulfill the directive of a good transition come to fruition, and I'm very grateful... Hannah's passion shows in her quality of work, collaboration with the engineering team, thoughtful questions and challenges to product plans, and comprehensive execution of documenting related or overlapping aspects of an experience. Working with Hannah feels like working with a product manager revered for thorough and intentional product design. Any team and their end users are lucky to have Hannah involved.

Hannah closely collaborated with the Azure Resource Graph (ARG) Change team to develop and publish documentation on ARG's Change Analysis and on explaining why there are two different Change Analysis. During my time working with Hannah, she used her exceptional technical, communication, writing and leadership skills to collaborate with us. Those skills made cross collaboration and the process of creating documentation smooth and easy.

Her collaboration with us will even stretch to Azure's customers in helping guide them through this transition and how to use ARGs Change Analysis. Hannah made a HUGE impact and I really enjoyed working with her. I really enjoyed her leadership and communication ability. When working with a vast number of people across teams and projects I really enjoyed working with Hannah and learned a lot.

Hannah quickly built a strong foundation in microservices and Distributed Application Runtime (Dapr). Her documentation, including quickstarts, improved onboarding and received positive customer feedback. She took initiative on Dapr release communications, managed release blog and final-release documentation tasks, and became an approver in the documentation repository, an important step toward maintainer responsibilities.

Hannah, one thing you do exceptionally well is combine real ownership with real collaboration. You take on complicated, fast-moving areas like Profiler, Code Optimizations, Snapshot Debugger, and now a growing Durable Functions and Durable Task space, and you never treat them like they are just pages to maintain. You think about structure, customer clarity, and how the whole experience fits together. I’ve really appreciated that in our work together.

Whether we were talking through zone pivots, combined page formats, expandable sections, metadata, or repo and build issues, you always came into the conversation with curiosity, good judgment, and a genuine desire to make the content better. You ask smart questions, you pick up new ideas quickly, and then you actually use them. I also love that when something is useful, you share it. The fact that you took the expandable-sections guidance back to your manager and team, and they were excited enough to want more conversation around it, says a lot about the kind of teammate you are. You are not just a strong writer and owner. You make the people around you better too.

The thing I most value about working with you is how easy you make it to do good work together. You are thoughtful, responsive, low-ego, and genuinely collaborative, which means even tricky topics feel lighter when we are figuring them out together. You are one of those people who makes partnership feel natural. You ask great questions, you close the loop, and you care about getting to the right answer instead of just checking the box. On a more personal note, I always enjoy our collaboration because it is both sharp and encouraging. You are one of my favorite people to partner with. I come away from our conversations feeling like the work got better, and honestly, that the day got better too. That combination of competence and warmth is rare, and I really value it.

I do not think your steady impact always gets enough credit, because a lot of what you do is the kind of work that quietly makes everything run better. The Change Analysis naming work, the Profiler troubleshooting consolidation work, your ongoing freshness updates, the Durable Functions and Durable Task restructure, the conceptual diagram work, and the amount of customer feedback and UUF cleanup you have handled all point to the same thing. You are carrying meaningful scope, and you handle it with a calm professionalism that makes it look easier than it is. I also think your reliability shows up in ways that matter a lot. Your consistency in recurring team rhythms, your attention to metadata and tracking hygiene, and your habit of flagging issues instead of letting them linger are all signs of someone the team can count on. That kind of dependability is easy to overlook because it is not flashy, but it has a huge effect on team health and content quality. You bring a lot of substance to the work, and you make the people around you better too.

Over the last few months, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Hannah on projects related to the Azure Developer CLI. During our time working together Hannah has not only been a critical part of the product delivery cycle, but also a great ally in supporting a more open and collaborative product design process. For a team to successfully deliver positive outcomes for our end users, I believe all roles should be active participants in the design process. It is often incredibly challenging to get non-design stakeholders to join in. This absolutely was not the case with Hannah.

Through her participation Hannah was able to make an immediate impact in a number of ways; all of which I expect will have positive outcomes for our end-users. Specifically, Hannah worked directly with the team to review and assess pain points related to the Azure Developer CLI docs and code (command line) experience. Not only did she take our suggestions and feedback into account, but she also provided many ideas of her own, ultimately reworking the docs experience to be much more streamlined and straightforward.

Outside of her impact on the docs experience, Hannah has been a great example for other team members. Her willingness to participate in the design process, seek input, thoughtfully consider feedback, and provide ideas and guidance of her own are truly appreciated. From providing insight and expertise, to being open-minded and receptive to critique, Hannah is a great asset to our team. - Great listener - Open-minded - Thoughtful - Seeks feedback - Expert in his field - User-driven - Team player

Hannah, I appreciated your help to update Distributed Application Runtime (Dapr) content in the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) docs. You addressed the customer feedback from GitHub issues and UUF, restored the Dapr sample repo, and updated the docs. The AKS docs writers aren't familiar with Dapr so your help saved us a lot of time to troubleshoot and update the content. And most important, it was helpful for customers to have their questions answered and documented.

It was a pleasure collaborating with you on the Dapr in Azure content. You did an excellent job understanding and building on the initial ideas, even when the guidance wasn’t very clear. This highlights your strong content writing skills and focus on customer clarity.

The high view counts and low bounce rates speak for themselves. Your work also proved valuable during customer incident resolutions, as we often referred to the Dapr content to guide customers effectively. I appreciate how you’re always ready to take on tasks and how quickly you deliver the first iteration, often covering most of the required changes right from the start.

You took over ownership of the Azure Developer CLI Dev Hub and jumped right into refreshing the content. I appreciate the time you spent to attend calls with customers to understand the motivations behind doing things differently compared to a traditional Dev Hub. You did an awesome job to take in feedback from Austin (UX) and customer studies. Pending actual feedback from customers but I strongly believe you have made things much better!

There are several things I think you're doing well:

    - You're tackling really complex technical topics (durable) and not showing much hesitation at all.

    - You're helping keep the team on track, on task, and organized with the meeting series and the Loop

    - You're helping us navigate the complexities of the docs system, the policies, and the dates we have to worry about

It's really great having you to help us with this major docs rearchitecture effort! I value your doc writing expertise, especially given your history with Dapr. I also value how patient you are with us when we're not always proactively being helpful.

Hannah, your collaborative instincts and communication are a real superpower for the engineers you work with. From our very first interaction on the AMG-MCP doc in March, you met me where I was — offering a clear choice between writing the doc in markdown and opening the PR myself, or handing you a Word doc and letting you take it the rest of the way. That "let me make this easy for you" framing removes friction for engineering partners and is a big part of why our team trusts content work with you.

What stands out beyond the logistics is how thoughtfully you shape the content and drive it to the finish. You asked deliberate questions about TOC placement, next-steps targeting, and which docset the AMG-MCP doc belonged in — questions that pulled me out of engineer-brain and helped us land a doc that actually serves the reader. Once we agreed on direction, you opened the PR, powered through the blockers on 3/10 with transparent status updates, and closed the loop the moment it went live.

The same pattern showed up again on 4/9 when you approved the follow-up PR and offered to sign off the merge yourself. Earlier in the period, on the Entra ID auth documentation thread in January and February, I saw another dimension of this strength: cross-team awareness. You paused to clarify SFI implications, looped in the right stakeholders, and came back with a strategic suggestion — that the GUID live on the Azure built-in roles page so AMG docs could simply reference it instead of duplicating content. That instinct to connect individual asks to the broader content system saves everyone future maintenance.

Please keep bringing this energy forward — the "happy to help!" tone, the thoughtful questions, and the end-to-end ownership are what make the partnership feel approachable and raise the quality of every doc that comes out of it.
